The Royal Neighbor, Vol. 16, No. 4, April 1915
AN EASTER VISION.
BY ADELBERT CLARK.
The winds were still on Easter eve,
The stars were in the west,
The moon shone from the brow of God
Upon the lily’s breast.
| heard the sound of merry bells
A-ringing from afar;
I saw a cross of gold appear
Before a blazing star.
I heard the angels singing praise
*Mid banks of rarest bloom,
For Christ, the King, the Son of God,
Had risen from the tomb.
The sky was filled with frosty gems
Like manna sent from God,
Until it seemed that heaven had paved
Earth’s bare and frozen sod.
Within the church on Easter morn,
The angels came again,
Arrayed in spotless robes of white
With lilies in their train.
“Rejoice! rejoice! for Christ, the Lord
Is coming now this way!
Throw open wide the doors—He comes!
Behold your Lord today!”
