Notice of Levy of ‘‘Special (Patriotic) War Tax.’’
Rock Island, Illinois, November 1, 1917.
To All Beneficial Members of the Society,
Royal Neighbors of America.
Notice is hereby given that according to the resolution adopted at the
Supreme Camp of the Society, held in Buffalo, New York, in May, 1917, author-
izing the Executive Council and Board of Supreme Managers to provide means
whereby a “Special (Patriotic) War Tax” should be created for the payment of
death claims that may be occasioned by the death of beneficial members of the
Society that enter into the military or naval service of this country in the present
war with the German government, a Special War Tax in the amount of 50 cents
has been levied upon all beneficial members of this Society for the purpose of
establishing said “Special (Patriotic) War Fund”; 25 cents of this amount to be
paid to your local Camp Recorder with Assessment No. | 1, levied for the month
of November, 1917, and 25 cents with Assessment No. 3 payable in the month
of March, 1918.
All beneficial members in good standing November 1, 1917, must remit this
tax of 25 cents to. the local Camp Recorder together with all moneys due and
payable during the month of November, or stand suspended.
All members accepting their benefit certificates during the month of
- November will be liable for the “Special (Patriotic) War Tax.”
