The Royal Neighbors of America
Have Not Ceased Working
With Woodmen
Because of the action taken by the
Supreme Camp in widening the eligi-
bility list for the admission of women
to our society the impression prevails
in certain Woodmen circles that our
society is no longer auxiliary to the
Modern Woodmen of America. This
is a great mistake. The change made
at Indianapolis was not a very ma-
terial one so far as the Woodmen are
concerned. Before the change only
those women who related to
Woodmen were. eligible to member-
ship. In the more thickly populated
Woodmen jurisdiction this law did not
work any particular hardship to our
society as the relationship clause was
so broad that a very distant relative
was made eligible. In the newer juris-
diction, however, it was almost impos-
sible to build up our society because
there were
were
so few women who were
related to Woodmen, and many times
those who were related, if willing to
join, could not pass the medical exam-
ination, and this prevented the organi-
zation of a camp simply from lack of
the required number of acceptable
